When I was a kid Lego toys were nothing but some building block toys that were a little better than similar toys like the Lincoln logs, but nowhere near as cool as the video game consoles that were starting to become available like the Atari 2600! However, this has now changed and Lego, are the most popular and famous toys all over the world! In the late nineties Lego saw their profits plummet so they decided that they needed to do something to get the public's attention again They thought that the best way to achieve that would be to team up with one of the most popular and beloved franchises in cinematic history. Star Wars! This is how the Star Wars Lego Sets were born!Star Wars is by far the most successful and popular movie franchise of all time so Lego's decision to make toys based on it was really smart and it really paid off! Star Wars Lego Sets are now much more than just toys or collections of Lego bricks, they have become valuable collector's items!Practically every major event, character and spaceship from the movies has been recreated in Lego form in the Star Wars Lego sets! One of the most popular sets for example is the extremely movie accurate Millennium Falcon Lego! Then there's the Imperial Cruiser set, the gigantic Death Star Set and of course a model based one the most iconic star-fighter ever created, the legendary X-Wing fighter! The attention to detail and craftsmanship on the Star Wars Lego sets is awesome and like all Lego toys, building them is extremely fun! They'd also be a great father and son project!

Star Wars LEGO Review Set - 8091 Republic Swamp Speeder
The Star Wars LEGO Swamp Speeder is part of the first wave of releases for Lego in 2010.This is a limited edition set which means you can only get it at Lego Shop At Home or specific stores (Target). The set is a little small for the $29.99 price tag but that tends to happen with exclusive sets. There are 176 pieces and 5 minifigures so it is not a huge set.The Speeder itself is quite small and will be a deterrent for casual buyers.Collectors however will be attracted by the figure of Jedi Commander Barriss Offee as it is the first time she has been featured in a set. This is a beautiful figure with purplish decoration on her face and a highly detailed torso.Other figures in the set include a clone trooper, two battle droids and a super battle droid. The clone trooper is in what is regarded as phase two armor. That means it is not the original clone armor as featured in Episode 2 but the second version of the armor as featured in Episode Three. This armor is meant to serve as halfway between the original clone armor and that worn by the stormtroopers in episodes four five and six.For avid fans, this particular phase two clone Lego has a slightly newer design on its helmet and torso. The speeder has a number of interesting features which may make up a little for the higher price bracket. As it is a swamp speeder wheels on the bottom of the model give the impression that the speeder is hovering across the surface. There are four flick fire missiles and there is a steering mechanism at the rear which controls the front wheels and missiles. It's a great design and has a beautiful exclusive figure and if you can look past the high price point it is worth the purchase if you are a fan.

Star Wars LEGO 2010 Review - Set 8098 Clone Turbo Tank
The 2nd wave of 2010 Star Wars Lego sets are due out in August. The wave includes 5 models and set 8098, the Clone Turbo Tank is the largest with 1139 pieces. This is the second Lego incarnation of the Republic's Military A6 Juggernaut tank with the initial release in 2005 to coincide with the release of Star Wars Episode Three Revenge of the Sith.Back then it came with the rare figure of Mace Windu but this current version gives us two first release minifigures from the Clone Wars TV series, Cad Bane and Aalya Secura. The Clone Wars Turbo Tank was featured in the Clone Wars television series season two premiere, The Holcron Heist, and the set comes with six figures that allow you to recreate a lot of the action in that episode.Apart from Cad Bane and Aalya Secura the minifigures of Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and two clone troopers round out the set.The build is quite technical on the inside and while it is not very attractive it serves to make the model quite sturdy and a fun play, with the 10 extra large wheels a rarity in the Star Wars universe where most vehicles tend to fly or levitate. The tank can be carried around by one of the central technic pieces that protrude from the top, much like the AT-AT set from 2008, and it never feels in danger of falling apart.Lego has improved on the first release in a number of areas including the wheels which are more accurate this time around.Priced at $119 US the set also comes with a small AT-RT Walker that can fold down and fit into the chassis of the tank. While fairly basic it allows one figure to sit in the allocated seat and ride around.Overall Lego have done a great job in bringing back this popular set from 2005, the first demanding high prices on the secondary market. The extra figures should make this highly appealing for fans.

This review is from: Star Wars Lego Episode III Clone Turbo Tank #7261 (Toy) There's one number that stands out after you dump the contents of the Clone Turbo Tank out on the table: 801. Eight-hundred and one, as in, how many pieces just spilled out of the box. For those not familiar with LEGOs, well, it's probably the most LEGOs you've seen at once that have yet to become something. It's daunting and a bit mind-boggling.That being said, once all the pieces come together (and they will, somewhere around two hours later), you'll doubtlessly be pleased: you've got yourself an AT-AT with wheels, ready to roll over Seperatists with the vanguard of the Clone Army. The Clone Turbo Tank is oddly named; as I said before, it's an AT-AT with wheels. Perhaps somebody got tired of the pantheon of walker acronyms in the Star Wars universe (AT-ST, AT-TE, AT-AT, AAT), and said "okay, okay, enough with the acronyms!" I suppose you could call it the CTT - but don't, it's not a walker. It's a tank - a turbo tank. The set itself is nothing short... It comes with two battle droids, a Master Windu minifigure with a light-up lightsaber, four clones (one scout, two regular and one with an orange stripe). The scout trooper gets a speeder bike that you build! The droids get a blaster, tri-pod gun, and a turret. The tank itself is EXTREAMLY durable! It will only break if you crash it or drop somthing heavy on it. The tank has an ajustable turret. The only problem is that the clone keeps falling out if you go too fast. Overall I'd give this toy a 1,000,000,000 if the scale was that high. This is a great toy, it will give you tons of fun! 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful A Kid's Review = Durability: This review is from: Star Wars Lego Episode III Clone Turbo Tank #7261 (Toy) As you may know already legos are very well made and high quality. I started in my lego collection with the rebel snow speeder. Then I saw this one. Then I price......my jaw dropped. $90 dollars for a tank. after some research though I this toy looked very fun and very, very very durable for a lego. I also like the little minifigures. The Mace Windu guy haas the "glow" lightsaber. It was funny pushing his head but the lightsaber is unitachible. It comes with many clones and things to do. But the only problem seems to be (as seen in other reviews) the scope thing doesn't seem to be that good. People say that it repeatidly falls over although I've never had that problem. Over all the turbo tank is very fun to play with and it is a great collection. But please remember if your reading this and your under 8 you my have some trouble doing it by yourself. |

Lego Star Wars Review Set 8039 Venator - Class Republic Attack Cruiser
The Star Wars Lego set 8039, Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser is a model of the precursor to the imposing Imperial Star Destroyer so prominently featured in the opening moments of Star Wars A New Hope. This ship was designed as Grand Chancellor Palpatine's personal flagship during the Clone Wars and is prominent in the opening salvo of Episode Three Revenge Of the Sith when Anakin and Obi-Wan crash land part of a Venator onto Coruscant. The Lego Venator is not to minifigure scale but does a great job of replicating the design of the ship.It is 20 inches (50.8cm) long, 12 inches (30.5cm) wide and 7 inches (17.8cm) high, making it a pretty impressive model. For extra playability the constructed set has a handle at the top which can be used to lift the vehicle safely without fear of breaking off plates. It is very effective addition and while aficionados will no doubt lament that it reduces the set to a "kid's toy" the handle retracts quite nicely and does little to detract from overall feel of the set.The Venator comes with a clone pilot and a clone gunner both of which have appeared in sets previously. The new figures for this set include two Senate Commandos. The bodies of these figures have the same body as a regular clone, just painted blue instead of white and a new helmet design to reflect the different appearance of this elite Galactic Senate guard. The final figure is the exclusive Chancellor Palpatine minifig, and this figure represents Palpatine before he reveals himself as the Sith Lord. There are a number of playable features on the ship including an opening area at the front where Palpatine's office is located.Inside there is a simple chair and table set up with a few of Palpatine's trademark maroon colored flags and rugs.It seems cramped but it is obvious that Lego has done this to reduce the size of the overall set yet retain the sleek shape of the ship.At the rear there is a removable command module and opening gunner areas on the side.Weapons include various flick fire missiles and a bombing mechanism on the bottom that can be removed and then refilled.Overall the ship is beautiful representation of the original, instantly recognizable and highly playable.Unlike earlier models of this size, like the Star Destroyer model 6211, kids can play with the Venator using the retractable handle and have no concern about breaking it apart. The added exclusive minifigures make this set a must buy before it sells out and demands high prices on the secondary market.
